The home

We really did think of everything

I'd owned a vacation home for years before I ever stayed in one. On a 2024 trip to Houston, ours had nothing but the bare minimum, and Kristy told me that's how most of them are stocked. That wasn't going to work for our guests. The kitchen has a full stove, a microwave, spices, condiments and everything you need to cook a family meal. That's how a stay here beats a hotel on value.

There's a full bath and a half bath. Showers can take turns; nature won't wait. And yes, there's a bidet. It's a guest favorite.

The propane grill is always filled and ready for your family's grill master. (In our house, that's Kristy.) The décor comes from my years in South Florida and the Bahamas, to give you that carefree island feeling.

Don't just take our word for it. Read what guests say.

The beach

A short walk to the sand

The private community beach is a few hundred yards from your door. We keep chairs, shade, beach blankets, knee boards, floaties and life jackets ready to go, plus Kristy's beach glass kits, a hit with guests of every age.

The neighborhood also has a tennis court (we have pickleball gear), a basketball court with a ball waiting, and a lawn where a volleyball net often goes up.

The area

Your home base on the North Coast

Mitiwanga sits right between the lake and river towns of Vermilion to the east and Huron to the west. Most families save a day for Cedar Point, but leave room for the rest: wineries, Lake Erie seafood, local pubs, and dinners at Angry Bull Steakhouse or the acclaimed Chez François.

Evenings belong to the sunset over the Point. When the northern lights are in the forecast, we'll let you know.
